James "Jez" Graham has been playing and singing in Atlanta since 1988.
He has played in all of the major venues on Atlanta including-The St. Regis Hotel, The Intercontinental Hotel,Rays On The River,Sambuca Jazz Cafe,Little Gardens,The Martini Club,The Ritz Carlton, and more. His soothing piano playing and the variety of his reportoire have kept him in demand as a player/singer as well as an an accompaniest.
Some of his favorite collaborations include The Legendary Blues/Jazz vocalist Francine Reed who he began with in 1996. One of Jez's proudest moments was playing with Francine at her induction into The Georgia Music Hall of Fame where she sang a song Jez cowrote with Stephen Kalinich (Beach Boys and Motown lyricist/poet)"Surrender"
Jez also shared a long friendship and collaboration with the late great Col. Bruce Hampton co-writing and recording his final studio album which Jez played piano,Bass, and even electric sitar on a country song Bruce co-wrote with Billy Bob Thornton "The Dots Go Where I Say They Go"
Jez traveled with The Col. on and off from 2011-2015 playing everywhere from B.B. Kings in New York, to Elvis's porch in Tupelo with a bunch of festivals in between.
Jez has also been playing and collaborating since 2008 with original member of the Beach Boys, the influential and always inspiring guitarist David Marks. Jez helped put the band together for David Marks and The Summertime Blues Band. They played memorable gigs in Atlanta and Charlotte and a revamped version of the band recorded the album David Marks-"Live on Sunset" which was recorded in Hollywood at the historic home of Western Studios where The Beach Boys recorded in the 60's. (It's now called East West Studios)
One of Jez's favorite musical moments occured when He invited David to jam with Col. Hampton and friends at The Allman Bros aftershow at B.B. Kings along with Warren Haynes and Nels Cline of Wilco. For this performance David played Duane Allmans legendary gold top Les Paul which was brought to New York from Macon at The Col's request for David to play.
Jez has collaborated on many songs with the poet/lyricist Stephen Kalinich starting with the You Can Soar cd and culminating in "Surrender which has been recorded by Francine Reed. Col. Bruce Hampton and most recently by Jez himself.
